When is DYNAFLEX ULTRA™ rain ready?
DYNAFLEX ULTRA™ White and Colors are rain ready in just one hour without washing out or getting damaged with permanent rain marks, eliminating the worry of a ruined caulk job and having to reapply. Clear is rain ready in two hours. This is significantly shorter compared to other latex sealants which typically require at least 24 hours waiting before exposure to water.
How is DYNAFLEX ULTRA™ different than DYNAFLEX 230®?
DYNAFLEX 230 is a premium quality acrylic latex sealant with “Silicone Toughness” that is formulated for demanding exterior window, door and siding applications. It is the perfect entry into the DAP exterior window, door and siding sealant line up. New DYNAFLEX ULTRA™ represents innovative breakthrough latex technology, truly making it a “best-in-class” latex sealant. It combines the benefits of other sealant technologies with the ease of use, water clean-up and paintability of a latex sealant. Powered by WEATHER MAX Technology™, it provides exceptional UV protection against color fading, cracking, chalking and crumbling. The tough hydrophobic surface prevents dirt pick up and water absorption. What makes DYNAFLEX ULTRA™ better than other latex sealants?
DAP® DYNAFLEX ULTRA™ outperforms conventional acrylic latex sealants in many ways that are meaningful to consumers. It provides exceptional UV protection against color fading/yellowing and won’t blister, bubble or soften. The tough surface resists dirt pick up and won’t absorb water. Also, DYNAFLEX ULTRA™ is water ready in just one hour for White/Colors and two hours for Clear. It won’t wash out, unlike other latex caulks which require at least a 24 hour waiting period before exposing to water. It’s also paintable in just one hour unlike other acrylic latexes which require 2-6 hour waiting period. DYNAFLEX ULTRA™ is the only sealant on the market today to offer a lifetime mold, mildew and algae resistance guarantee.
What is the color assortment of DYNAFLEX ULTRA™?
DYNAFLEX ULTRA™ is available in White, Clear, Beige, Clay, Iron Gray and Dark Bronze. These colors are the top selling siding and trim colors.
Is DYNAFLEX ULTRA™ clear different than DYNAFLEX ULTRA™ white and colors?
DYNAFLEX ULTRA™ clear offers the same performance features as white and colors with a few exceptions. Clear is rain ready in two hours versus one hour for white and colors. This is still significantly shorter compared to other latex sealants which typically require at least 24 hours waiting before exposure to water. Clear meets ASTM C920, Class 25 and white and colors meet Class 35. Also, clear also applies white and dries clear in 7-14 days, depending on joint depth, temperature and humidity.
Is DYNAFLEX ULTRA™ paintable?
Yes, DYNAFLEX ULTRA™ is paintable after just one hour with both latex and oil-based paints. This improves productivity by saving time and letting the user finish the job sooner. At one hour, the sealant is firm and smooth, so there’s no brush drag or marks. DYNAFLEX ULTRA™ provides exceptional paint finish results without glossing (“shiners”) or dulling the paint finish.
Can I use this in an interior application?
Yes, product is marketed for exterior use because of the rapid set enabling it to be exposed to moisture, but can be used interior also
Can I use this in a shower?
No. The product is not applicable for use in a bath or shower.
Why is algae resistance important?
Algae growth is common on the exterior of homes that get a lot of shade or are battling humid and hot conditions. It often shows up on the east facing side of a home but can appear in other areas based on the amount of exposure to shade, heat or humidity. Algae is unsightly and can be time consuming to remove. DYNAFLEX ULTRA™ is the only sealant on the market today that offers a lifetime resistance guarantee against the growth of algae, mold and mildew so the sealant stays looking clean and new.
Can I apply a layer of this caulk over 100% Silicone in order that I may paint?
No, this product will not adhere over 100% Silicone.
How long is the shelf life on this product?
A minimum of 12 months from the date of production in an unopened tube
